Update - May 6, 2006
I thought my most urgent need was seeing to the construction in concrete of El Faro's outdoor theatre. We have mixed l20 bags of cement with sand and rocks by hand until now and have about 80 bags more to go. I was so busy I didn't notice that my most urgent need was to buy a toothbrush for a poor child.
I found out by chance the other day just after applying the toothpaste to my toothbrush. When a knock on the door interrupted me I carefully placed my toothbrush loaded with toothpaste back in its holder to wait until I could come back to brush my teeth. Returning some time later, I was surprised to see the toothbrush without toothpaste, and wet.
Three weeks ago six Mosaten Indians had brought us thirteen year old illiterate Noel to live in the mission to learn to read and to learn the Gospel of Jesus. They had travelled two days down the Quiquibay River in a dougout canoe. I had asked Rick to buy a toothbrush for Noel, but somehow the toothbrush had not gotten to him. I sorta put two and two together and asked Noel if he had used my toothbrush. He said that he had, but just for a minute. That's when I realized that we had been sharing the same toothbrush for three weeks.
I gave the toothbrush to Noel. When I realized three days had gone by and I still had no toothbrush, I sent Rick to the store to buy me one. We are very busy and see God moving in so many miraculous ways.
