His Image at 14 by Jack Spiers
The Lighthouse Mission
I've seen visions of Jesus! The most recent of these is "His Image at 14". My first vision was of Jesus on the cross. I saw the soldier pierce His side and then throw the same lance into the chest of a lost young man that I had been praying for. Now that young man is a Christian, the cleansing blood of Jesus reached his heart. Another vision was of Jesus standing before a heaping pile of gold and silver. I knew my financial need would be miraculously met, and within days it was.
"His Image at 14" is very different, but miraculous and more clear. In April of 2004, I was in La Paz, Bolivia in bed with chills, fever, and weakness. I had no thought of leaving my room until morning, when I would begin the trip to my home in the lowlands.
Meanwhile, in another place in La Paz a very intense prayer was being prayed. A fourteen year old homeless and desperate Christian, Victor Munoz, was praying, "Help me!". Victor and I had never seen each other, but God was sending us to one square yard of sidewalk in front of the San Francisco Cathedral.
This encounter would bring the answer to Victor's prayer and allow me to see a vision of Jesus at age fourteen.
Getting me to leave my snug refuge from the thin, cold air took prompting from the Holy Spirit. I felt compelled to go down in front of the cathedral to offer my personalized tract to passers-by. I said, "Okay, but if I am to go, then I am to be healed. I am healed and strengthened in Jesus' name," and I went.
I was on my way to my square yard of cement in the big, bustling city of La Paz, but how would God get Victor there? Never mind, God is all-powerful.
Victor was on his way to his church and would not pass in front of the cathedral where I was, but he must.
Victor arrived at his church on time, only to find that the doors were locked. This had never happened before, but it must if I were to see this "Jesus".
Victor was determined to attend a Sunday night service, and this change of plans would bring him directly to me.
I had hardly gotten started when a very hungry and poorly dressed lad approached me. I offered him a tract and he eagerly accepted. After taking a few steps he stopped to read it. I went to him and asked if he was a Christian. With tears in his eyes, he said, "Yes, I'm on my way to church. I have no one to help me. God is my only help." He stood before me in worn out tennis shoes that revealed his bare big toe and his need. I knew I was seeing the face of Jesus again, as I do so often in the poverty of Bolivia.
"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me..." - Matthew 25:40
Victor has joined my family of needy children in Rurrenabaque, Bolivia. There I feed, clothe, and love my "Jesus", and he loves me.
